An umbilical artery catheter (UAC) is a slender, pliable tube placed into the umbilical artery of a neonate for the purpose of monitoring and treatment. The use of UAC in NICUs allows for the continuous monitoring of blood pressure, blood sampling at short intervals, and fluid or medication administration without the need for repeated venipuncture. It is constructed from soft, medical-grade materials and has depth markings to guarantee safe and precise placement along with reliable vascular access for critically ill infants
